Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how Seasonal Carousel ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you install or use Seasonal Carousel (the "App"), a Shopify application that helps merchants display seasonally reranked product carousels on their online store.

By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App.

Who this policy applies to

• Merchants who install and configure the App in Shopify Admin.
• Store visitors who view a carousel on a merchant's storefront. The App does not intentionally collect personal information from store visitors.

Information we collect

From merchants

• Store identifier: your Shopify store domain (for example, your-store.myshopify.com).
• Access credentials: a Shopify API access token obtained through Shopify's OAuth process so the App can read product and collection data on your behalf.
• App configuration: collection IDs you select for carousels and optional holiday names and dates you enter in the App.

Product catalog data

To build and display carousels, the App reads product information from your Shopify store via the Admin API and may cache a subset of that data, including:

• Product ID, title, and handle
• Featured image URL and alt text
• Minimum variant price and currency

This cached data is used only to power carousel display and reranking. We do not collect or store customer names, email addresses, shipping addresses, order history, or payment information.

Technical information

• Standard server logs (such as request timestamps, IP addresses, and URLs) generated when the App or its storefront proxy is accessed.
• A short-lived OAuth state cookie during app authorization, used only to complete the install flow.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

• Authenticate your store and operate the App
• Fetch products and collections from Shopify according to your settings
• Rerank products and generate carousel content for your storefront
• Refresh carousels when you save settings and on a scheduled basis
• Maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the App
• Respond to support requests

We do not sell your information. We do not use merchant or product data for advertising or unrelated marketing.

Shopify API access

The App requests the following Shopify access scopes: read_products and write_app_proxy.

• read_products lets the App read product and collection data needed for carousel setup and reranking.
• write_app_proxy lets the App serve carousel content to your storefront through Shopify's app proxy.

Your use of Shopify is also governed by Shopify's terms and privacy policies.

Service providers and data sharing

We use trusted third-party services to host and operate the App. We share information only as needed for them to perform services on our behalf:

• Shopify – platform, OAuth, Admin API, app proxy, and webhooks
• Hosting provider – application hosting and scheduled jobs
• Database provider – secure storage of store configuration and cached carousel data
• Reranking service – product catalog data you configure for carousels is sent to our reranking service to determine product order. That service processes data only to provide reranking results to the App.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and services.

Data retention

We retain store credentials, configuration, and cached carousel data while the App remains installed on your store.

When you uninstall the App, Shopify sends an app/uninstalled webhook and we delete your store record, access token, app configuration, and cached carousel data from our systems. Server logs may be retained for a limited period for security and operations, then deleted or anonymized.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and secure storage of API credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International transfers

Information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including where our hosting and service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border data transfers.

Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information, or to object to certain processing.

• Uninstall the App from Shopify Admin to revoke API access and trigger deletion of your store data from our systems.
• Contact us at mc.oling.wood@gmail.com to request access to or deletion of data we hold about your store.

If you are a customer of a Shopify merchant, please contact that merchant directly regarding personal data they hold about you. The App does not collect customer personal data.

Children

The App is intended for use by businesses and is not directed at children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be communicated through the App or by email where appropriate.
